Leeds Playhouse

We are Leeds Playhouse, one of the largest producing theatres in the North.

There has been a Playhouse in Leeds for almost 50 years; first as Leeds Playhouse based at the University and then as West Yorkshire Playhouse from 1990, when it opened on its current site. On beginning a £15m Redevelopment in June 2018, it returned to its roots and once again became Leeds Playhouse.

Leeds Playhouse produces up to 11 of our own productions each year, and also presents touring work. Our extensive Creative Engagement work engages with Young People, Older People, Education and Communities. Through our Furnace strand we generate and create new performance work, and support and nourish our local creative community.
