Fall in love with Chopin’s poetic reverie and the passion and joy of Tchaikovsky. Kahchun Wong and the Hallé present a performance that tugs at your heartstrings.

Written when Chopin was just 20, his First Piano Concerto makes the instrument as ardently expressive as the human voice. The composer described the ravishing second movement as ‘a kind of reverie in the moonlight on a beautiful spring evening.’

Teenage pianist Tianyao Lyu, who is known for her natural command of the keyboard and strong stage presence makes her debut with us as soloist after making a splash at the most recent International Chopin Piano Competition.

Tchaikovsky’s emotionally direct Fifth Symphony captivates listeners all the way to its joyful ending. The passionate second movement introduces an unforgettable horn melody and the waltzing third movement reminds us of the beauty of the composer’s ballet music.
