The Greatest Show Returns: Lee Mead Leads Dazzling UK Tour of Barnum in 2026

Step right up! Bill Kenwright Ltd is thrilled to announce a spectacular new UK tour of the classic Broadway musical Barnum, bringing the unforgettable story of P. T. Barnum — the world’s greatest showman — to theatres across the country in 2026.

Leading the cast as the legendary impresario is West End favourite and TV star Lee Mead. Known for his breakout win on Any Dream Will Do and acclaimed performances in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Wicked and Legally Blonde, Mead brings charisma, vocal power, and emotional depth to the title role.

First seen in this bold new staging at the Watermill Theatre, Barnum is directed by Jonathan O’Boyle (The Last Five Years, Picture You Dead) and choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing favourite Oti Mabuse. With a cast of over 20 actor-musicians, breathtaking circus acts and a musical score that dazzles, this production promises to be one of the theatrical highlights of 2026.

Featuring a score by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Michael Stewart, and book by Mark Bramble, Barnum includes beloved songs like Come Follow the Band, Join the Circus, The Colours of My Life, and Love Makes Such Fools of Us All.

Critically acclaimed during its initial run, The Observer hailed it as “a dazzling all-singing, all-juggling musical tribute to the 19th-century circus showman” in a glowing five-star review.

Behind the scenes, the production boasts a top-tier creative team including Lee Newby (Set & Costume Design), Jai Morjaria (Lighting Design), Tom Marshall (Sound Design), George Dyer (Musical Supervisor, Arrangements & Orchestrations), Amy Panter (Circus Director), and more.

Originally a Broadway smash and later a UK hit led by Michael Crawford, Barnum tells the inspiring tale of a dreamer who rewrote the rules of showbusiness—partnered in life and ambition by his wife, Charity.
