Located in the heart of East Grinstead, Chequer Mead Theatre is one of the best venues for entertainment in the South East, hosting a wide variety of shows from musicals to stand-up comedy nights, from talks to our annual sell-out Pantomime.

Chequer Mead is the only purpose built theatre and arts centre between London and the South coast – comprising the original Victorian school after which it is named. The centre opened in 1996 with the addition of a 320 seat auditorium which now hosts over 250 events each year. With a number of meeting rooms and studios we host a wide range of artistic activities for all ages and interests making Chequer Mead at the core of culture in East Grinstead and the surrounding area.
