Read our review: Northern Ballet’s Casanova ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Casanova was an Italian adventurer and author from the Republic of Venice. His autobiography, Histoire De Ma Vie, is regarded as one of the most authentic sources of the customs and norms of European social life during the 18th century.

But today his name is synonymous with being a lover.

Northern Ballet take the life story of Casanova to present their impressive and hugely entertaining Ballet of the same name. This week at SHEFFIELD LYCEUM THEATRE, Northern Ballet’s opening night performance was fantastically received with standing ovations and whoops from the audience. True to the theme of ‘Ballet Theatre’ the company showed how they are able to entertain and dazzle with their dances but also tell the story simply and with great effect. Special mentions must go to Joseph Taylor as Casanova who gave us a rock and roll superstar performance and premier dancer Abigail Prudames who doubled up as M.M and Bellino but the whole ensemble were supremely impressive. With an original score by Kerry Muzzey performed live by the 27 strong Northern Sinfonia, the music seamlessly narrates the story along with the fantastic choreography by Kenneth Tindall. Striking sets, dramatic lighting and sumptuous costumes take us into Casanova’s hedonistic life and are the finishing touches to a spectacular ballet.

    Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Casanova is a sensational crossover of ballet and theatre; of dance and athleticism; of excitement and spectacle.
