Our hit comedy The Constant Wife by Laura Wade, based on the play by W Somerset Maugham and directed by RSC Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, will tour the UK and make its debut at sea in 2026.

Following its critically-acclaimed premiere in the Swan Theatre this summer, The Constant Wife will head to 17 venues across the UK, starting at The Grand Theatre Blackpool on 16 January and ending in Bath’s Theatre Royal on 16 May, before it embarks on a Transatlantic Crossing aboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2.

Taking the title role of Constance will be Kara Tointon, known for playing Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion in London’s West End, from TV’s Mr Selfridge and as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing.

RSC Co-Artistic Directors, Tamara Harvey and Daniel Evans, said:

“Our ambition is to bring joy to as many audiences as possible, deepening our understanding of ourselves and the world around us, and so we are thrilled to be bringing The Constant Wife to stages across the UK, following its success at the Swan in Stratford.

“It will be so exciting to get back into the rehearsal room with our new company, led by the brilliant Kara Tointon, and for us to bring Laura Wade’s razor-sharp script to life.”
