Chicago Announces Star-Studded Cast for 2027 UK and Ireland Tour
Strictly’s Lauren Oakley makes her musical theatre debut alongside Adam Garcia and Sam Bailey as the multi award-winning musical Chicago returns to the stage in 2027.
Murder, fame and all that jazz! The smash-hit musical Chicago is heading back out on tour across the UK and Ireland in 2027, with a star-studded cast bringing the razzle-dazzle of 1920s Chicago to theatres nationwide.
Leading the cast is Strictly Come Dancing professional Lauren Oakley, who makes her musical theatre debut as the ambitious and fame-hungry Roxie Hart. She is joined by two-time Olivier Award nominee Adam Garcia as smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn and The X Factor winner Sam Bailey as the formidable prison matron Mama Morton.
A Cast Full of Familiar Faces
Lauren Oakley is best known for her appearances on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, alongside performances in Burn the Floor, Strictly The Professionals and numerous live dance tours.
Adam Garcia brings an impressive musical theatre pedigree to the role of Billy Flynn. His credits include Saturday Night Fever, Kiss Me, Kate, Wicked, 42nd Street and The Bodyguard, as well as film appearances in Coyote Ugly and Murder on the Orient Express.
Sam Bailey, who won The X Factor in 2013, returns to the role of Mama Morton, having previously appeared in Chicago, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Beauty and the Beast.
Completing the principal cast are Charlotte Gooch as Velma Kelly, Jonathan Dryden Taylor as Amos Hart and R. Leonard as Mary Sunshine, making their professional debut.
Murder, Scandal and Showbusiness
Set against the decadent backdrop of 1920s Chicago, the musical follows nightclub dancer Roxie Hart, who murders her lover and finds herself behind bars.
Determined to escape conviction and become a celebrity, Roxie enlists the help of charismatic lawyer Billy Flynn, who turns her crime into a media sensation. But with fellow inmate Velma Kelly competing for the headlines, there’s only room for so much fame.
Packed with sharp humour, sensational dancing and a deliciously cynical look at celebrity culture, Chicago remains as relevant today as when it first took Broadway by storm.
All That Jazz!
Featuring the music of John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and the unmistakable choreographic influence of Bob Fosse, Chicago boasts some of musical theatre’s most recognisable numbers, including All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango and Razzle Dazzle.
Winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy, the musical is the longest-running American musical in Broadway and West End history.
The celebrated Broadway revival marks its 30th anniversary in 2026, having entertained audiences in 38 countries and been seen by an estimated 35 million people worldwide.
