Built in 1900 Harrogate Theatre is a typical example of a late Victorian proscenium arch venue built over five floors.

The building contains two purpose built performance spaces, which are a mid-scale proscenium arch theatre with a playing space of approximately 90 square metres and a seating capacity of 500.  The main auditorium seating is set across three floors, stalls (on the ground floor), circle (on the first floor) and a balcony (on the second floor). In the stalls there are 6 comfort seats (D2, D22, J2, J23. L2 and L23), with a bit of extra room around them for additional wiggle room.

There is also a small flexible studio with an audience capacity of up to 60. Both spaces offer a year-round diverse programme of theatre, dance, music and comedy.

Harrogate Theatre is also home to a number of amateur societies that regularly perform musicals and plays throughout the year.
